    Belt & Belted Cuffs

Traditional elements such as leather buckles on the belt and belted cuffs nod to our early designs, which were grounded in purpose, functionality and adventure.

    Unmistakably Lined

The Burberry Check was first used to line our rainwear in the 1920s. Today, it continues to be a beacon of Burberry craftsmanship and style, underpinning heritage and seasonal iterations of our signature coats alike.

    The Collar

It takes up to a year for each specialist tailor to master the fluid curve that allows the collar to sit perfectly on the neck. Stitched by hand and always lined in Burberry Check, it’s made up of eight parts and up to 200 stitches.

    D-Rings

A design born from function to protect the military during the First World War, the trench belt’s metal D-rings were originally used to attach military gear.

Providing protection from the weather all year round, the trench coat
is the cornerstone of Burberry rainwear and British style.

Invented by our founder in 1879, the gabardine fabric used for our Heritage Trench Coats is now woven from organically
grown cotton at the Burberry Mill in Keighley, then crafted into the signature design at our manufacturing site in Castleford – both
in Yorkshire, England. Over the years, the trench has been reinterpreted into a variety of cuts and styles affectionately named
after locations woven into Burberry’s identity – each shape personifying its unique character.

The collar, made up of eight parts is the most intricate detail of the trench. It is hand-sewn by our specialist tailors, who have mastered the art of creating the fluid curve that allows the collar to sit perfectly.

Continuous innovation of the trench coat stays true to the pioneering ethos of our founder Thomas Burberry.
